  • Murray Harrington - Executive Director

    Murray joined Genesis Capital in 2022.  He commenced his career qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, before moving overseas and working internationally within Mobil Corporation and the Big Four in numerous countries.  From 2007 until 2019 he was a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers, specialising in a broad range of commercial, strategic and governance related areas.

    Since late 2019, Murray has been the successful turnaround CEO of a technology company and has served in several governance roles.  These include, founding Chair of Methven Adventures Limited, (the recently developed Opuke Hot Pool complex in Methven) CORDE Limited, IHC New Zealand, Christ’s College, the New Zealand Infrastructure Commission and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). He was elected President of CAANZ for 2023.

    Over many years, Murray has held numerous investments and governance roles in privately held or private equity businesses.  These include in retailing, agriculture, technology, infrastructure services and tourism.  He has successfully exited several businesses.

  • Steven Grant - Executive Director

    After commencing his career as a lawyer at Bell Gully, Steven moved into investment banking, working for Macquarie Bank in London and then in Auckland. More recently, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Northington Partners, specialising in business sales, acquisitions and capital raising transactions with a focus on the mid-market (business values typically in the $10-50 million range).

    Since mid-2016, Steven has been self-employed as a consultant investment banker (advising on M&A transactions) and a professional director. He currently holds four directorships with substantial commercial entities (The New Zealand Automobile Association Incorporated, Marlborough Lines Limited, Yealands Wine Group Limited and Care Group Limited).

    Steven also has a number of investments in privately held businesses and was involved in each acquisition, particularly on deal negotiation and due diligence.

  • Karolina Kochanowicz - Fund Manager

    Karolina joined Genesis Capital in 2023. She has worked for number of international banks and investment firms in London, which has also included approximately 20 years of experience in financial services. Her skill set and previous experience is mainly in the securitisation credit risk field but also covers investor relations and reporting.

    Karolina moved to New Zealand at the end of 2020, where she since mid-2021 has been working for one of New Zealand’s largest investment advisory firms, on the private wealth side.
